美國의 全世界的(전세계적)인 對테러 戰爭(전쟁)으로 인해, 8月13日-29日의 아테네 올림픽에서 이스라엘 選手團(선수단)에 대한 테러 可能性(가능성)이 높아지는 가운데 이스라엘軍이 아테네 올림픽 警備(경비)에 參加(참가)한다고 한다.



이것을 위해, 이스라엘 治安當局(치안당국)은 약 1年前부터 그리스 政府(정부)와 接觸(접촉), 테러 試圖(시도)가 있을 때 空港(공항)과 海岸(해안)을 封鎖(봉쇄)하는 方法(방법), 많은 사람들이 모이는 行事(행사)에서의 테러 對策(대책)에 대한 助言(조언)을 해왔다.



아테네 올림픽 警備에는 미국, 영국, 이스라엘, 그리스 등 7개國이 參加하며 警備 計劃(계획)에 12억 달러가 使用(사용)된다고 한다.



이스라엘 海軍(해군)은 그리스 海岸 警備에 參加하게 될 豫定(예정)으로, 이미 美 海軍 第6艦隊(제6함대), 그리스 海軍과 協力(협력)에 들어갔다. NATO는 이스라엘軍이 참가하는 것에 대해 아직 確實(확실)히 동의(同意)를 하지 않은 狀態(상태)라고 한다.



1972년 뮌헨(Munich) 올림픽에서 팔레스타인 아랍 테러리스트에 의해 이스라엘 選手 11명이 殺害(살해)된 以後(이후), 이스라엘 選手團에 대한 警備는 이스라엘 治安當局인 샤바크(Shabak)의 要員(요원)들이 直接擔當(직접담당)하고 있다.



그리스 政府 當局者(당국자)에 의하면 外國(외국) 安全要員(안전요원)에게는 武器携帶(무기휴대)가 許容(허용)되지 않을 것이라고 한다.

아테네(Athens) 올림픽의 테러 警備(경비)에, 이스라엘이 참가(參加)한다고 이스라엘 신문 마아리브(Ma`ariv)가 6月23日 報道(보도)했다.



그리스 政府(정부)가 警備 支援(지원)을 要請(요청)한 北大西洋條約機構(북대서양조약기구)[NATO, North Atlantic Treaty Organization]의 南유럽軍司令部(남유럽군사령부)[이탈리아 나폴리(Naples)]에 이스라엘軍 將校(장교)가 常駐(상주)해, 테러의 事前情報(사전정보)가 있을 때에 卽時(즉시) 이스라엘軍이 出動(출동)할 수 있는 態勢(태세)를 취할 計劃(계획)이라고 한다.



마아리브에 의하면, 參加의 契機(계기)는 이스라엘로부터의 宣傳(선전)이었다. 이스라엘에서 아테네까지 약 1,200km라고 하는 地理的(지리적)인 가까움과 테러 對策(대책)의 經驗(경험)을 올림픽 警備에 活用(활용)하기 위해, 약 1年前에 治安當局(치안당국)이 그리스 政府와 接觸(접촉)해, 많은 사람들이 모이는 行事(행사)의 警備 手法(수법)에 대해 助言(조언)했다. 그 후, 이스라엘과 그리스, NATO가 協議(협의)를 繼續(계속)해 왔다고 한다.

Israel to help safeguarding Athens Olympics

Israel will play a major role in securing the upcoming

Athens Olympics, with its navy patrolling the Greek coast

and military and intelligence officers working closely with

the Greek armed forces, the US Army and NATO, according to

Israeli military officials.



Israel has volunteered its expertise on securing mass public

events from terror attacks and is advising Greece on how to

seal off its airspace and coastal waters in the event of a

terror attempt, the officials said Tuesday.



A seven-nation security task force, including the United

States, Britain and Israel, are involved in the $1.2 billion

security plans for the Aug. 13-29 games.



There is already close liaison between the Israeli navy, its

Greek counterpart, the US 6th Fleet and the relevant air

forces. Greece, the US army and NATO are also in close

contact with Israeli intelligence, the officials said.



Israel expects one of its senior officers to sit in NATO`s

southern command headquarters in Naples, Italy, during the

games, but NATO itself is still undecided on such close

Israeli involvement, the officials added.



Private Israeli firms will also contribute to the Greek

security effort, supplying patrol boats for the Greek navy,

closed-circuit TV and other monitoring systems for the

streets of Athens and other services.



Israel`s Shin Bet security agency will protect the Israeli

team - guarding Israeli quarters in the Olympic village,

sites Israeli athletes may visit and sailing events off the

Greek coast - as it has done since the 1972 killing of 11

Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics.



The Olympic guard detail will be the largest Israel has ever

undertaken, the officials said, because of intelligence

estimates of a potential terror attempt against Israelis at

the Athens games.



Greek officials said the foreign security agents will not be

allowed to carry firearms.
