Singer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun) has hit back against allegations raised by MBC's 'PD Note,' claiming that the KakaoTalk messages suggesting he admitted to overseas gambling and having an affair with One Hundred Chairwoman Cha Ga-won were distorted.

On the afternoon of June 3, MC Mong shared his stance during a TikTok live broadcast regarding the episode of MBC's 'PD Note' titled "MC Mong and the Chairman's K-Pop Trade Secrets," which aired the previous day.

In particular, regarding the KakaoTalk messages revealed on the show, MC Mong argued, "PD Note should have verified the truth of those KakaoTalk messages. When we went to Las Vegas, the company's CEO, vice president, and staff members all went together. If it were a secret getaway, why would we all go together instead of just the two of us?"

Previously, 'PD Note' showed the production team visiting MC Mong multiple times to hear his side of the story. However, MC Mong refused the interview, saying, "MBC is the place that wrote articles turning me into 'Tooth-pulling Mong' (Balchi-Mong)," and added, "I will hold a press conference tomorrow."

MC Mong further emphasized that the allegations had nothing to do with him, stating, "Most of the interviews featured on the program, such as those with taxi drivers and restaurant staff, are just hearsay," and "The unpaid settlement issue also occurred after I left the company."

However, 'PD Note' revealed records of a former personal assistant, who had accompanied Chairman Cha and MC Mong on a business trip to Las Vegas, directly transferring approximately 70 million KRW to a casino representative under Chairman Cha's instructions. The broadcast also showed KakaoTalk messages that Chairman Cha later sent to her uncle, stating that she had "paid off MC Mong's gambling debts multiple times," along with the transaction details.

In December of last year, an online media outlet caused a stir by reporting on an inappropriate relationship between MC Mong and Chairman Cha, releasing private KakaoTalk messages between the two as evidence. At the time, MC Mong completely denied the allegations, swearing, "I have never had an inappropriate relationship with Chairman Cha." He also claimed that the revealed KakaoTalk contents were distorted, and that he had written his statement under coercion and physical assault.

Following this, in March, the court issued an injunction ordering the partial deletion of content that concluded or implied an extramarital affair, as well as the KakaoTalk screenshots from the report, and banned further distribution.
