Chef Anh Sung-jae, who rose to stardom through the Netflix series 'Culinary Class Wars', has announced a hiatus for his YouTube channel following the recent 'wine swap' controversy and the subsequent public backlash.

On the 13th, the production team for the YouTube channel 'Chef Sung Anh' posted a notice on its community page stating, "We have decided to take some time to reorganize the channel to carefully review its direction, overall operations, and content production." They added, "We will strive to return with a more responsible attitude and better content for those who have cherished and supported the channel."

Anh Sung-jae gained significant public recognition through the Netflix series 'Culinary Class Wars', which was released in 2024 As a judge on the show, he became a viral sensation for phrases such as "It's not cooked evenly," and subsequently expanded his activities into YouTube, advertising, and TV shows.

After signing an exclusive contract with a management agency last year, he began his career in the entertainment industry in earnest. He quickly gained popularity by collaborating with famous celebrities, including SEVENTEEN, JANGWONYOUNG, NCT DREAM, and Yoona. His YouTube channel also saw rapid growth, surpassing 1 million subscribers. However, following the so-called 'wine swap' controversy at his Seoul restaurant raised last month, criticism and demands for accountability grew. Although Anh Sung-jae personally released a second apology explaining the circumstances of the incident, public sentiment did not easily subside.

Some consumers reacted by saying, "It is unclear whether this was a simple mistake," and "More specific explanations, such as the release of CCTV footage, are needed." The controversy further escalated when wine-focused YouTuber Wine King publicly criticized him. At the time, Anh Sung-jae apologized, stating, "As the owner-chef who takes full responsibility for MOSU, I will manage things thoroughly to ensure such an incident does not happen again."

Meanwhile, Anh Sung-jae is currently the owner-chef of the Michelin two-star restaurants 'MOSU Seoul' and 'MOSU Hong Kong'.
