BIGBANG marked their 20th anniversary with a “restart” on the Coachella stage in the U.S.
On April 19 (local time), the group took over the Outdoor Theatre at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, delivering a one-hour parade of hits. It was their second set at this year’s festival, following their April 12 performance.
They ignited the crowd with BANG BANG BANG, FANTASTIC BABY, SOBER, LOSER, and A Fool of Tears, stacking back-to-back fan favorites to push the energy even higher.
As the set neared its end, the members addressed their 20th anniversary and revealed future plans. G-Dragon told the crowd, “BIGBANG will continue. I’ll share something special here for the first time: We’ve finished preparing our new album, and we’ll start a world tour in August,” sending the festival into a frenzy.
Taeyang said, “To our beloved fans in Korea watching from afar and everyone here with us today―thank you. Thank you for loving us, waiting for us, and supporting us over these 20 years. The best way we can repay you is with great performances. We wouldn’t be here without you. We love you.”
Daesung added, “Thank you for loving us for so long, even when we were rough around the edges. We’ll keep being a BIGBANG that brings happiness. Sincere thanks to everyone here and to fans around the world.”
Introducing their final song, “Still Life” (2022), G-Dragon said, “This track holds our youth and our memories. Please enjoy it with us.” On stage, T.O.P’s rap section played as is. During T.O.P’s part, G-Dragon raised his hand toward the sky, as if greeting T.O.P from afar, drawing attention.
