Actor Tony Leung met fans in Seoul for the first time in 18 years.

Ahead of the release of "Silent Friend," Leung arrived in Korea with director Ildiko Enyedi to join stage greetings and a post-screening Q&A (GV). It’s Leung’s first visit to Seoul in 18 years and Enyedi’s first-ever trip to Korea.

The two landed in Seoul on April 2 and headed straight to Megabox COEX to meet moviegoers eager for the film’s debut.

Their first stop was an onstage greeting. Enyedi and Leung spent meaningful time up close with a packed theater. The audience erupted in cheers and applause at the appearance of the world-renowned auteur and the world-class Tony Leung.

Enyedi said, “It’s my first time in Seoul. Thank you so much to everyone who came to watch 'Silent Friend.' I’m thrilled thinking about how many eyes have seen our film, and I’m truly curious how you received it.”

Leung added, “I’m happy to be back in Seoul and to meet Korean fans again. It’s been a long time since my last visit, and I hope I can come more often.” He then asked, “How was 'Silent Friend'? Did you enjoy it?” The audience shouted back, “We loved it!”

During the GV that followed, Enyedi and Leung shared in-depth stories about "Silent Friend," drawing viewers in even more. Questions ranged from the film’s directing intentions and complex plant-related topics to details about the Germany location shoot and even a lighthearted question about tai chi, sparking applause and laughter.

After meeting audiences from day one with both a stage greeting and GV, Enyedi and Leung have more events lined up: stage greetings and Q&As on Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4. Leung will also promote the film through appearances on JTBC "Newsroom" and GQ KOREA’s "NICE TO MEET Q" alongside Lee Jung-jae.

"Silent Friend," directed by Ildiko Enyedi and starring Tony Leung, follows characters across 1908, 1972, and 2020 who become connected through a single ginkgo tree. The film opens on April 15.
