The romance film 'Once We Were Us,' starring Koo Kyo-hwan and Moon Ga-young, has held the No. 1 spot at the Korean box office for nine consecutive days.

According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated box-office system on January 20, the film drew 48,032 admissions on the 19th, bringing its cumulative total to 1,621,872.

After opening on December 31, 'Once We Were Us' rose to No. 1 in its second week and has since led the weekend box office for two straight frames. Now in week four, its daily turnout is holding nearly level with week three, putting it on track to surpass 2 million admissions―potentially as soon as this weekend.

Local newcomers 'Project Y' and 'Sugar' bow on January 21, but with strong word of mouth, it’s unclear whether they’ll slow 'Once We Were Us.'

'Once We Were Us' follows Eun-ho (Koo Kyo-hwan) and Jung-won (Moon Ga-young), former lovers who unexpectedly reunite a decade later and sift through the traces of their memories. The film is a remake of the Chinese hit 'Us and Them.'
