Actor-singer Nana has been hit with a countersuit from the man who allegedly broke into her home, accusing her of attempted murder. Her label condemned the move as “an inhumane act devoid of remorse” and said it will pursue strong legal action.
In a statement on Dec. 2, Sublime said, “The aggravated robbery and assault against Nana have been clearly established through a thorough investigation. Despite this, the perpetrator has filed a separate complaint against the victim, causing secondary harm.”
According to the agency, the case stems from a serious crime in which an intruder armed with a weapon entered Nana’s residence and attempted to carry out a robbery. Nana and her family suffered significant physical and psychological trauma, which the company says continues to this day.
Sublime also criticized the suspect’s stance. “Showing no remorse, the perpetrator is exploiting the fact that the victim is a public figure to file a complaint against her,” the label said, calling it “clearly inhumane” and “a secondary attack that inflicts further pain on the victim.”
The incident dates back to last November, when a man in his 30s allegedly forced his way into Nana’s home, threatened her with a weapon, and demanded cash and valuables. Nana and her mother were injured while subduing him. The suspect was indicted and detained on aggravated robbery and injury charges, while police determined Nana and her mother’s actions constituted lawful self-defense and did not book them.
More recently, the defendant reportedly walked back parts of his original statement during the investigation and trial and filed a complaint claiming Nana’s actions amounted to attempted murder. Legal observers in Korea say the move appears to be a strategic bid to reduce his sentence.
Sublime vowed a firm response to the countersuit. “Protecting our artist’s rights is our top priority,” the company said. “We will pursue every possible civil and criminal remedy against the perpetrator and continue to respond responsibly to prevent any further harm.”
