Cha Ga-won Sues Outlet Over KakaoTalk 'Affair' Story Involving MC Mong

Cha Ga-won, chair of P_Arc Group, has launched civil and criminal action against a media outlet that published KakaoTalk-based allegations claiming she had an affair with rapper MC Mong.

Her legal representative, the law firm Plaza, said in a Dec. 29 statement that it has already filed complaints over a Dec. 24 article and a related YouTube video.

Plaza argued the outlet ran Cha’s full name in headlines without seeking comment or offering a right of reply, and distributed content across its website and YouTube that labeled the well-known star MC Mong’s “married affair partner” as Cha.

The firm called the report entirely false and sensational, saying it severely damaged Cha’s dignity, reputation, and social standing while gravely invading her privacy.

It added that the facts will be determined through legal proceedings and urged against additional reports that could cause irreparable harm to Cha, her family, and the companies she leads.

The outlet had alleged that the married executive previously had an improper relationship with MC Mong and that the two were entangled financially. Both Cha and MC Mong have strongly denied the claims as baseless.

Amid the controversy, online publication The Fact followed with a story scrutinizing the finances of One Hundred―the entertainment company co-founded by Cha and MC Mong and now led by Cha―and its label Big Planet Made Entertainment (BPM).

Citing audit reports on Dec. 29, The Fact claimed BPM was in “complete capital impairment” as of Dec. 31, 2024, with liabilities of about 53.2 billion won exceeding assets of roughly 34.2 billion won. It also pointed to wardrobe costs of about 10.8 billion won in 2024―57% of approximately 18.8 billion won in revenue―and a year-end cash balance near 50 million won.

The outlet further reported that INB100―the company home to EXO’s ChEN, BAEKHYUN, and XIUMIN―relies heavily on advances, with cumulative advances surpassing 72 billion won across 2023-2024, yet only about 60 million won in cash on hand at the end of 2024.
