MC Mong is at the center of a firestorm after stepping down from his producer role earlier this year, as Korean outlet The Fact published what it claims are KakaoTalk messages between the rapper and Cha Ga-won, a married executive of his previous label where he served as a producer until recently―alleging a years-long affair and gifts and cash totaling about 12 billion won.
On Dec. 24, The Fact released the purported chat logs.
According to the outlet, the exchanges read far more intimate than professional. Cha allegedly tells him, “I never abandoned you―if that’s how you want to see it, live with it,” and, “I spent two and a half years feeling discarded by you,” adding she “never once got love or attention.”
The logs also appear to show conversations about trying to conceive, mentioning hospital visits, ovulation shots and efforts to time intercourse.
Cha also seemed to bankroll luxury shopping, telling him to splurge at Galleria and to pick up a bag in Dosan-dong, according to the messages.
The Fact says the messages were exchanged between April and May. The outlet also noted that after withdrawing a loan-repayment claim against MC Mong in June, Cha revived it in November; a 12-billion-won lawsuit is now underway, which The Fact framed as additional context to their alleged relationship.
MC Mong has publicly denied the allegations and says he plans to file complaints against The Fact and Cha’s nephew/niece. On social media, he alleged the outlet “fabricated messages that don’t even exist in our KakaoTalk,” and claimed he was threatened at his home―having objects thrown at him and being slapped―before being coerced into stamping a contract. He added he left his former company in hopes of protecting it.
