Advancing to the semifinals are Kim Yoon-i, Choi Eun-bin, Cheon Beom-seok, Jung Ji-woong, Lee Ye-ji, Hong Seung-min, Lim Ji-sung, Song Ji-woo, Lee Ji-hoon, Lee Jun-seok, Min Soo-hyun and Jeremy. Expect a sweep of classic ballads―from the late folk bard Kim Kwang-seok’s “To You” to vocal powerhouse Lena Park’s “Missing Child”―with each contestant channeling someone special as they perform.
Ballad icon Yoon Sang also steps in to share stories behind the songs, serving as a living encyclopedia of the genre and adding extra depth for viewers.
One stage reportedly left judge Jung Jae-hyung in uncontrollable tears. From the next seat over, host Jun Hyun-moo said, “That’s the hardest I’ve ever seen him sob on ‘The Ballad of Us.’” The big question: which contestant delivered the performance that swept the room in emotion?
Meanwhile, fellow contestants picked Cheon Beom-seok as No. 1 in their own projected Top 6. All eyes are on whether he can also top the official fan vote―and what kind of show-stopping performance he’ll bring to back it up.
