'The Haunted Palace' Yook Sung-jae Discovers 'Human' Pleasures: from Devouring Chicken Legs to Chugging Bottles
The Return
A scene of Yook Sung-jae's character in 'The Haunted Palace' indulging in a feast has been captured.

Premiering on Friday, the 18th, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Haunted Palace' (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) is a fantasy romantic comedy about a shaman named Yeori who rejects her fate and an Imoogi named Kang Cheol, trapped in the body of Yeori's first love, Yoon Gap. They encounter a vengeful spirit, leading to a chaotic battle for control over body and soul. Directed by Yoon Sung-sik, known for 'Mr. Queen', 'You Are the Best!', 'Bridal Mask', and 'Dae Jo Yeong', and written by Yoon Soo-jung, who penned 'The King's Face' and 'Cheer Up!', the drama promises a fresh and dynamic cast including Yook Sung-jae (as Yoon Gap/Kang Cheol), Kim Ji-yeon (as Yeori), and Kim Ji-hoon (as Lee Jung), creating much anticipation.

In the released stills, 'Imoogi Kang Cheol' is seen stuffing his face with food, raising curiosity about the scene's context. Having lived in the spirit realm for a thousand years, Kang Cheol, now in a human body, experiences taste for the first time and becomes utterly captivated by earthly cuisine. Holding a large chicken leg in one hand, he is engrossed in the act of eating, chewing, and savoring every bite. His childlike wonder at the variety of flavors after a millennium is both amusing and endearing.

Another still shows Kang Cheol holding a bottle in each hand, drinking and getting tipsy. The once intimidating aura of the evil spirit is nowhere to be seen as he finishes off a table full of food with a satisfied smile. The once aloof and superior being now wears a look of pure joy, making viewers eager to see what unpredictable humor his tumultuous adaptation to the human world will bring.

Meanwhile, Yook Sung-jae's portrayal of this unique half-human, half-god character is nothing short of impressive. The stills alone are filled with humor and dynamic energy, heightening viewers' expectations. As anticipation builds for how 'fantasy powerhouse' Yook Sung-jae will bring Imoogi Kang Cheol to life on screen, excitement grows for the premiere of 'The Haunted Palace', promising a standout performance.

'The Haunted Palace' is set to premiere on Friday, the 18th, at 9:50 PM, following the conclusion of 'Buried Hearts'.
