'Weak Hero' is finally making its return.

On April 2, Netflix announced that the new series 'Weak Hero 2' will be released on Friday, April 25.

'Weak Hero 2' follows the story of Yeon Si-eun (played by Park Ji-hoon), a model student who transfers to Eunjang High School carrying the trauma of failing to protect a friend from violence. Determined not to lose another friend, he faces even greater challenges in a gripping tale of survival and growth.

The first season, 'Weak Hero 1', released in 2022 on Wavve, was a groundbreaking hit in the genre of school action dramas. It captivated audiences with Yeon Si-eun's journey of breaking out of his shell, forming bonds with friends, and finding the courage to fight against harsh realities. The series was hailed as a masterpiece, achieving a 45.5% OTT platform share and an impressive 9.9 rating, thanks to the outstanding performances of its young cast.

With the platform shift from Wavve to Netflix for Season 2, 'Weak Hero 1' was made available to global audiences on March 25th, garnering significant attention. It quickly climbed into the Top 10 in 70 countries and secured the 2nd spot in the Global Top 10 Non-English Series category. According to Netflix's Top 10 website, 'Weak Hero Class 1' recorded 6,700,000 views (calculated by dividing total viewing hours by the runtime), further heightening anticipation for the sequel.

The return of director Yoo Soo-min, who broke away from typical school drama conventions with unique action sequences, alongside executive producer Han Jun-hee, has fans eagerly awaiting the new season. Curiosity is also building around the fresh characters and chemistry that actors Park Ji-hoon, Ryeoun, Choi Min-young, Yoo Soo-bin, Bae Na-ra, Lee Min-jae, and Lee Jun-young will bring to life.

As Park Ji-hoon's portrayal of the iconic character Yeon Si-eun deepens, the newly released teaser poster and trailer are sure to set hearts racing. Despite his scars, Yeon Si-eun's determined gaze hints at his ongoing battle. The teaser poster's tagline, "You must fight to protect," raises questions about the greater challenges he will face at his new school.

The teaser trailer captures the intense survival story of the rebooted Yeon Si-eun. His fierce battle with the mysterious Geum Sung-je (played by Lee Jun-young) is accompanied by a regretful voiceover, "Su-ho, I fought again. I'm sorry." In the first season, Yeon Si-eun broke out of his shell after meeting Ahn Su-ho (Choi Hyun-wook), but his slumped shoulders and dimmed eyes reveal the depth of his wounds. Despite becoming a 'voluntary outsider' after failing to protect a friend, rumors continue to haunt him.

The presence of new friends Park Hoo-min (Ryeoun), Seo Joon-tae (Choi Min-young), and Go Hyun-tak (Lee Min-jae) adds intrigue. Although Yeon Si-eun claims to prefer solitude, he slowly begins to open up to these friends who persistently reach out to him. His emotional realization, "I forgot how nice it is to have friends," and his steps alongside his new companions are truly touching.

However, violence does not stop at Eunjang High. The increasing threats both inside and outside the school raise Yeon Si-eun's anger, and his cold warning, "Don't cross the line," is sure to get viewers' hearts racing. As Yeon Si-eun, burdened by trauma, fights to protect his friends, audiences eagerly await how this intense survival story and brilliant tale of growth will unfold.

'Weak Hero 2' will be available worldwide on Netflix starting April 25th (Friday).
