The films 'The Match' and 'Lobby' are heating up the box office with a fierce competition in ticket sales.
According to the Korean Film Council's ticket sales data on the 2nd, 'The Match' is leading with a 22.3% reservation rate, while 'Lobby' follows closely with 19.2%. Both films have been neck and neck since this morning, battling for the top spot in ticket sales.
In terms of ticket numbers, 'The Match' has sold 49,000 tickets, securing the first place, while 'Lobby' has sold 43,000 tickets, coming in second. It's a close race indeed.
Since its release on March 26, 'The Match' has been on a 7-day streak at the top of the box office and is on the verge of surpassing the 1 million viewer mark. 'Lobby', on the other hand, has been receiving positive reviews from the press and increasing audience anticipation, keeping it in the top two spots for ticket sales.
'The Match' is a film about the mentor-student rivalry between Cho Hun-hyun and Lee Chang-ho, while 'Lobby' explores the intriguing world of lobbying at a golf course, offering a fresh take compared to traditional Korean films.
Given that it's the off-season, the total number of moviegoers isn't very high. All eyes are on whether 'The Match' will continue its winning streak or if 'Lobby' will claim the box office throne on its opening day.
