On the 19th, SBS aired 'Kick a Goal,' featuring a G League preliminary match between Actionista and Firefly.
The first goal came unexpectedly when Ahn Hye-kyung, attempting to block a header from Actionista's Park Ji-an, accidentally scored an own goal.
The second goal followed quickly, as Park Ji-an's shot deflected off Park Ha-na and into the net. However, Ahn Hye-kyung requested a VAR review from coach Choi Jin-cheol, claiming the ball had touched Park Ha-na's arm before going in.
Coach Choi requested the VAR review, and the referees carefully examined the controversial moment. The result was soon revealed: the goal was disallowed as the ball had indeed hit Park Ha-na's hand.
As a result, the score changed from 2-0 to 1-0, and the first half concluded.
In the second half, Firefly's ace, Kang Bo-ram, scored, marking her third consecutive goal. With this, Kang Bo-ram became the top scorer with six goals, having scored all of Firefly's goals in an impressive streak.
Both teams fought fiercely, but additional goals were hard to come by, leading to a penalty shootout.
Ahn Hye-kyung, who had a record of five losses in five previous shootouts, wore a particularly gloomy expression. She expressed her frustration, saying, "I watch the penalty shootouts of the opposing players before every match. But this time, I could only find videos of Jeong Hye-in and Park Ha-na. The other players had no experience in shootouts, so there were no videos to analyze. I had no data to know where they would shoot."
Meanwhile, Actionista's Lee Joo-yeon faced her first-ever penalty shootout, looking visibly nervous. She candidly admitted, "The coach said it was okay if the goalkeeper didn't perform well and not to feel pressured, but I was really nervous."
After the fifth kick, the score was tied 4-4, and both goalkeepers took their shots, but both were thwarted by the opposing keepers' saves.
Next, Park Ji-an and Han Cho-im stepped up as kickers, successfully scoring as expected. The eighth kickers, Jeong Hye-in and Kang Bo-ram, were then chosen.
Jeong Hye-in calmly scored, watching as Kang Bo-ram prepared for her shot. Everyone was taken aback when Lee Joo-yeon caught Kang Bo-ram's kick.
However, it was unclear whether she caught it before or after it crossed the goal line. The referee initiated a VAR review for the penalty shootout. The announcement came: "Kang Bo-ram's kick did not cross the goal line, resulting in a victory for Actionista," capturing everyone's attention.
Lee Joo-yeon, who caught Kang Bo-ram's shot just before it crossed the line, emerged as the hero of Actionista's victory, while Ahn Hye-kyung, unable to break her penalty shootout curse, left fans feeling sympathetic.
