[SBS Entertainment News | Kang Sun-ae] The second revenge drama by writer Lee Myung-hee, 'Buried Hearts,' is coming.

Set to premiere on the 21st, SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Buried Hearts' (written by Lee Myung-hee, directed by Jin Chang-kyu) stars Park Hyung-sik (as Seo Dong-joo) and Heo Jun-ho (as Yeom Jang-seon) as the main characters, depicting the tangled desires of various individuals surrounding the massive treasure island known as Daesan Group in a raw and tempestuous manner.

'Buried Hearts' is penned by Lee Myung-hee, who created a sensation in the home drama scene with 'Money Flower' in 2017, focusing on themes of money and desire. The anticipation for 'Buried Hearts' is already high, as it marks Lee's return to the themes of money, desire, and revenge, which she handles so well. We asked Lee Myung-hee what story she wants to tell through this work.

Lee Myung-hee described 'Buried Hearts' as "the world of chaebols and politics bound by concrete money. The protagonist, who becomes the top servant, falls into the illusion that he deserves to stand beside his masters, only to have his life taken away. It is only then that he realizes the harsh reality that 'there is no master who allows a servant to bask in the warmth.' He plans his revenge to dismantle the world of wealth and power that those villains are trying to inherit. As he navigates what seems like an impossible revenge, he confronts hellish truths that make him regret surviving even after being shot, but he faces them head-on and completes his revenge."

'Buried Hearts' features various characters caught up in their own desires for money, power, love, and revenge. They rush toward their desires like moths to a flame, even if it leads to their own destruction. Why did Lee Myung-hee choose to focus on 'human desire and revenge' again, following her previous work 'Money Flower'?

Lee Myung-hee explained her motivation for writing 'Buried Hearts': "The reason is always the same and singular: to write an 'entertaining drama.' I find revenge dramas enjoyable, which is why I planned a 'revenge trilogy,' and this is the second installment."

She continued, "I believe most dramas (stories) showcase the processes of human desire's conflict, struggle, and resolution. Among various desires, I am particularly interested in the desire for money and material wealth. In the modern capitalist era, material desire has become as primal as hunger, sexual desire, and the need for sleep, making it a fascinating subject with amplified conflict, struggle, and resolution."

She added, "There is a saying that 'revenge is wild justice.' The wild world, which is free from order and laws, has limitless expansion and is therefore even more attractive. In this captivating wild world, the protagonist's quest for revenge becomes a powerful fantasy of justice. In reality, very few people can actually achieve revenge. Through 'Buried hearts,' I hope viewers can feel the burning heart and emotions of the protagonist as he moves toward revenge and enjoy the fantasy of retribution."

We already know how engagingly Lee Myung-hee tells stories about money, power, and revenge. 'Buried Hearts' combines her captivating storytelling with the immersive direction of Jin Chang-kyu and the powerful performances of actors like Park Hyung-sik and Heo Jun-ho. 'Buried Hearts' is sure to captivate the eyes, ears, and hearts of viewers.

Following 'Love Scout,' 'Buried Hearts' will premiere on the 21st and will air every Friday at 10 PM and every Saturday at 9:50 PM.
