On January 6, Shin Dong-yeob guested on DongHae and EunHyuk of K-pop boy group Super Junior's YouTube show.
During their conversation, they reminisced about their early days in the entertainment industry.
While reflecting on that time, Shin Dong-yeob shared, "I used to drink a lot with seniors who enjoyed drinking. Since I enjoy drinking, I would always join in. I treated the seniors very well when we drank together. The seniors who didn't drink would always call me on other days, saying, 'Tell us the dirty jokes that you told when you had drinks the other day.' Because I'm known for being fun at drinking gatherings, I made up a lot of stories. I made up so many of them, seriously."

He continued, "But most of them were experienced comedians. Seniors like Choi Yang-rak, Lee Bong-won, and Park Mi-sun had their own segments at that time. I happened to get a segment called 'Are You Doing Okay?' It was like a newcomer getting an unexpected promotion, quickly climbing the ladder to something much bigger, and I don't think some of the seniors were fond of that."
With a bitter smile, he explained, "Some comedians much older than me found it difficult to accept that. They would get drunk and say things like, 'You bastard. Your popularity doesn't mean anything. Who do you think you are? You're nothing.' I even got slapped by one. Not just once as well. It happened quite a few times, getting slapped dozens of times at once. I would often go to the restroom to cry alone."
Finally, when asked, "Is that senior who slapped you still active in the industry?" he answered, "No, they're not active anymore."
