[SBS Star] Lee Jang-woo Shares How He Reacted to Harsh Criticism of His Restaurant's Taste
Actor Lee Jang-woo shared his thoughts on receiving harsh criticism during the process of running a restaurant and the subsequent improvements he made.

On December 27, a video featuring Lee Jang-woo was uploaded on comedian Jung Jun-ha's YouTube show "Jung Junhahaha."

In the video, Jung Jun-ha said to Lee Jang-woo, who operates a restaurant selling sundaeguk (blood sausage soup), "Let me be honest with you. I feel like your restaurants are all too small to make a big hit."

Lee Jang-woo responded, "Yeah, but lately, I've realized that I shouldn't run restaurants expecting big success. What I should focus on is my loyal regular customers. It's not good to just focus on profit."

Afterward, Jung Jun-ha praised the taste of the sundaeguk at Lee Jang-woo's restaurant. He said, "Putting everything else aside, I was really surprised when I went to your sundaeguk place. This is real; I thought I'd just say it was good if it was reasonably tasty, but when I tasted the soup, I thought, 'This is crazy.'"

In response, Lee Jang-woo shared, "When we first opened, the business was doing really well. But then, it started to decline because the taste changed."

He explained, "The taste changed because the staff had to work too hard to keep the soup tasting the way it did when the restaurant first opened. We boiled 100 pig heads, scraped off the bones, and washed everything again. It became too difficult to manage, so the quality kept dropping. Even when I tasted it, I thought, 'This isn't good.'"

Lee Jang-woo also mentioned, "Some comments came in saying, 'You've changed,' or 'Are you doing business like this because you're a celebrity?' To that, I said, 'Okay, I admit it. I need to start over.' So, I've been making changes recently. The quality went down, but now it's back up."
