[SBS Star] Lee Minho to Star in a Drama Written by Writer Who Wrote 'Guardian'·'The Descendants of the Sun'

Korean actor Lee Minho has confirmed to lead an upcoming fantasy romance drama that is written by screenplay writer Kim Eun-sook.

On May 7, it was announced that Lee Minho has decided to join a new drama titled 'The King: the Eternal Monarch' (literal translation) as his comeback project after serving his national mandatory duty for the last two years. 'The King: the Eternal Monarch' will be directed by Baik Sang-hoon, who directed 'The Descendants of the Sun' (2016) and is written by famous screenplay writer Kim Eun-sook.

Kim Eun-sook is well-known for writing mega-hit dramas, such as 'Secret Garden' (2010), 'The Heirs' (2013), 'The Descendants of the Sun' (2016), 'Guardian: the Lonely and Great God' (2016), and many more.

As Lee Minho worked with Kim Eun-sook for 'The Heirs', this will mark his second time joining forces with Kim Eun-sook. It has been said that Kim Eun-sook has written another story of her specialty for this drama: fantasy romance.

'The King: the Eternal Monarch' is a drama that tackles the subject of an alternate reality.

In one world, the Emperor of the Korean Empire seeks to keep the door to an alternate reality closed, while in the other, a detective of the Republic of Korea tries to keep the door open in order to protect his life and the people he loves. Meanwhile, 'The King: the Eternal Monarch' is planned to begin broadcasting in the first half of 2020.
