[SBS Star] BTS' New Album Reaches over One Million Physical Album Sales

K-pop boy group BTS has set a new sales record with its third full album 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 Tear' that was released on May 18.

According to HANTEO Chart, which keeps track of physical album sales in real time, the sales of 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 Tear' has reached one million copies around 10:00PM on May 24, only in the first week of its release.

HANTEO Chart shows the total number of sales solely made in Korea, but includes international sales at HANTEO's global partner record companies. With this record, BTS has become a double million seller as its previous album 'LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her' recorded 759,263 copies in the first week of its release, and 1.2 million copies in just 13 days.

This is the first time an album to be sold more than one million copies in the first week of its release, and it exceeds the first week sales of all K-pop boy groups recorded on HANTEO Chart since it launched its service in 1993.  Before the release of 'LOVE YOURSELF 轉 Tear', BTS even reached a total of 1,449,287 copies of the album's pre-order sales, excluding international sales.

On May 19, BTS' new album topped iTunes 'Top Albums' in 65 different countries, and the title track 'FAKE LOVE' ranked No. 1 on iTunes 'Top Songs' in 52 different countries. Just a couple of days ago on May 20, BTS has proven its great popularity by winning Top Social Artist award two years in a row at the '2018 Billboard Music Awards' as well.
