The movie 'Wild Sing' has debuted at No. 2 at the box office.
According to the Korean Film Council's (KOFIC) integrated computer network for theater tickets on June 4, 'Wild Sing' drew 160,768 viewers nationwide on its opening day, June 3. It ranked second at the box office, following 'COLONY,' which drew 331,490 viewers on the same day.
Before its release, 'Wild Sing' closely trailed the reservation rate of 'COLONY' and aimed for a No. 1 debut on its opening day. However, it had to settle for second place with less than half the audience numbers of 'COLONY.' Nevertheless, with actual viewer ratings exceeding expectations (a Golden Egg Index of 95% and a Naver viewer rating of 8.9), a future comeback is highly anticipated. With a production budget of 8 billion KRW, the break-even point for 'Wild Sing' is approximately 2 million viewers.
'Wild Sing' is a comedy film starring Gang Dongwon, Um Tae-goo, Park Ji-hyun, and Oh Jung-se. It follows 'Triangle,' a three-member co-ed dance group that once dominated the music industry but disbanded overnight after getting caught up in an unexpected incident, as they embark on a reckless challenge to seize a chance at a comeback 20 years later.
