Airing tonight (May 29), the fourth episode of SBS's 'Chefs' Secrets of K-food' takes viewers to Incheon Chinatown, the birthplace of jajangmyeon, one of Korea's most iconic noodle dishes. In tonight's broadcast, Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yoon, both renowned for their extraordinary expertise in noodle cuisine, will unleash their signature "noodle knowledge" in a heated clash of pride.
In particular, an unexpected "red light" flashes between the two chefs, who are usually known for their close friendship, drawing keen attention. While visiting Chinatown's oldest Chinese restaurant and reminiscing about classic Hong Kong films, Choi Kang-rok—a self-proclaimed hardcore fan of Hong Kong actor Stephen Chow—began reciting and praising Chow's famous lines. However, Kim Do-yoon challenged his fan pride directly, saying, "That line is wrong." This instantly sparked a tense atmosphere between the two.
Meanwhile, actress Kang So-ra will appear as today's special guest. For Kang So-ra, who temporarily put her diet on hold to visit, the two chefs pour their souls into preparing extraordinary noodle dishes.
MC Defconn and Kang So-ra could not stop marveling at the tight competition between Chef Choi Kang-rok, who lives a "noodle-centric life" reflecting his culinary philosophy, and Chef Kim Do-yoon, a self-proclaimed "noodle fanatic" who has spent 18 of his 34-year culinary career deeply researching noodles. In particular, Chef Kim Do-yoon, usually known as an "equipment maximalist" who insists on using fancy cooking gear, boldly set aside his tools for the day. He threw his entire body into a passionate "foot-kneading (jokta) performance," sending the set into a frenzy.
From their fanboy debate to the intense foot-kneading showdown, the culinary battle between these two masters armed with fierce "noodle pride" will be revealed on 'Chefs' Secrets of K-food', airing tonight at 11:10 PM.
