BTS will take the stage for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show.

According to U.S. music media outlet Billboard on the 14th (local time), BTS will perform as the headliner for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show, which will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19.

This performance is drawing significant attention as it marks the first-ever halftime show in the history of the FIFA World Cup. The performance is reported to last approximately 11 minutes.

In particular, the news was announced directly by Chris Martin, the lead singer of the band Coldplay, who is in charge of the performance curation.

In an official video released by Coldplay, Chris Martin appears alongside Sesame Street characters Elmo and Cookie Monster, as well as Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy from The Muppet Show. In the video, Chris Martin makes a video call to BTS to invite them to perform at the halftime show, and the members accept the offer by saying, "Of course, we'd love to."

In addition to BTS, global pop stars Madonna and Shakira are also on the lineup for this performance. Shakira is already known to be releasing the 2026 World Cup official song "Dai Dai" with Burna Boy. She previously received worldwide love for the 2010 South Africa World Cup official song "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)."

Madonna is also raising expectations for the stage as she prepares to release her new album "Confessions II" this July.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show is co-curated by Global Citizen and Chris Martin. The performance is part of a fundraising project for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, with a goal of raising $100 million to expand education and access to soccer for children around the world.

Meanwhile, FIFA announced last week that Katy Perry, Future, Tyla, LISA, and Anitta will participate in the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony performances. Katy Perry is scheduled to take the stage at the opening ceremony in Los Angeles on June 12, when the U.S. national team plays against Paraguay, and Future will also perform alongside DJ Sanjoy.
