Broadcaster Yoo Sang-moo may have fallen short in the KPGA professional qualifying tournament, but he is receiving congratulations from golf fans once again for achieving a valuable milestone: his first-ever hole-in-one.

Yoo recently shared his thoughts on the achievement through his YouTube channel, saying, "I’ve been preparing to go pro for five years. I can’t believe this happened to me. I love you all so much. I want to give you even a little bit of energy. Please stay healthy and always be happy."

According to the hole-in-one certificate shared by his wife, Kim Yeon-ji, on social media, Yoo recorded the feat on the 3rd hole of the Asia Course at Bear's Best Cheongna Golf Club in Incheon on May 11, using a Srixon 5-iron. Kim expressed her joy for her husband’s achievement, writing an affectionate message: "Congratulations, honey. You’re truly amazing..."

Yoo has long shown a deep passion for golf. He recently competed in the 2026 1st KPGA Professional Qualifying Tournament (Preliminary Group B), finishing the two-round event with a total of 172 strokes (+28) and tying for 48th place. While the result fell short of his dream of turning pro, his five-year journey of dedicated effort has drawn significant support.

Immediately after the tournament, Yoo said in a live broadcast, "I couldn't overcome the pressure because so many people were watching," adding, "I feel like I played a shameful game as a player." He also expressed his intention to challenge the professional qualifying tournament again in the future.
