Premiering May 8, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama "My Royal Nemesis" (written by Kang Hyun-joo, directed by Han Tae-seop) is a high-stakes, warlike rom-com between Shin Seori (Lim Ji-yeon), an unknown actress possessed by the soul of Joseon’s infamous villainess Kang Dansim (also Lim Ji-yeon), and Cha Segye (Heo Nam-jun), a ruthless chaebol heir known as a “monster born of capitalism.” Director Han Tae-seop, who helmed "Hot Stove League" and "Cheer Up," teams up with rookie writer Kang Hyun-joo.
Heo Nam-jun’s character, Cha Segye, is the grandson of Cha Dal-su (Yoon Joo-sang) of Cha-il Group and a third-generation chaebol. He’s branded “a monster born of capitalism,” the kind of man who declares, “Marriage is a merger and acquisition.” On the 13th, the "My Royal Nemesis" team unveiled stills of this icy, hard-edged heir.
In the photos, Segye strides through protestors gathered in front of his company. Clad in a flawless all-black three-piece suit, he doesn’t even blink when eggs are hurled his way―radiating ruthless charisma. His chilling gaze, seen just beyond the umbrella blocking a flying egg, cements his fearsome nicknames: “notorious chaebol” and “monster born of capitalism.”
Anticipation is high for the whirlwind clashes and explosive chemistry that will erupt when the infamously branded Cha Segye comes face-to-face with Shin Seori, who carries the soul of Kang Dansim from the Joseon era.
SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama "My Royal Nemesis" will premiere May 8 at 9:50 p.m. KST, following "Phantom Lawyer."
