Premiering May 11 at 8:50 p.m. on Tving and tvN, the Tving original ‘The Legend of Kitchen Soldier’ (written by Choi Ryong, directed by Cho Nam-hyeong) follows Private Kang Seong-jae, who trades a rifle for a kitchen knife and an ammo belt for an apron to become a “legendary cook.” Based on the webtoon of the same name, the series is drawing buzz as Park Ji-hoon’s next project after the film “The King's Warden.”
On the 8th, the drama dropped a character poster of cookhouse soldier Kang Seong-jae, showing Park Ji-hoon swapping his royal robe for kitchen whites.
The poster features the tagline, “A Kitchen Knife Instead of a Gun! An Apron Instead of an Ammo Belt!” and places Kang Seong-jae (Park Ji-hoon) not on the parade ground but in the kitchen, standing tall. Despite the “problem soldier” label suggested by his smiley badge, his focused gaze as he expertly wok-tosses over the burner radiates earned confidence.
A floating, game-like quest window around him also grabs attention. “Welcome, hero. Your journey as a cook begins now,” it reads―signaling the first step of “Cookhouse Soldier Kang Seong-jae.” With that gamer-style touch, anticipation is high for the birth of a legendary cook who’ll win over every palate on base.
