On the 11th, SBS’s official YouTube channel dropped a video titled, “'Match to Marry' Final Couple Jang Min-cheol ♥ Kim Jin-ju Announce Marriage. Who Will Find Love in the Next Season?”
Introducing themselves as “the show’s final couple and now a real-life couple,” Jang Min-cheol and Kim Jin-ju shared, “We’ve been doing well since the show. We’re preparing for our wedding.”
Aired earlier this year, “Match to Marry” is a reality dating show where 10 single men and women hoping to marry and 10 mothers who want to see their children get married live together for six days and five nights. The mothers watch their kids’ dating up close in the same space. Viewers connected with both the moms’ and the adult children’s perspectives under this fresh “parents-on-site” format.
After becoming the “final couple” on the show and continuing as a “real-life couple” off camera, Jang Min-cheol and Kim Jin-ju noted, “We heard ‘Match to Marry 2’ is coming,” then, alongside their mothers, talked about what they felt were the show’s strengths.
Kim Jin-ju said, “I used to wonder, ‘Can I really get married?’ But filming with the mothers made it feel natural to move toward marriage.” Jang Min-cheol’s mother playfully chimed in to her future daughter-in-law, “Isn’t that a total jackpot?” drawing laughs.
Kim Jin-ju’s mother shared, “I saw a different side of Jin-ju and realized she’s at an age where she can get married,” adding that she witnessed her daughter’s growth on the show.
Jang Min-cheol’s mother added, “Here’s why I highly recommend it: put them in there. Don’t push your kids about why they’re not getting married. Let them ease into a program like this so they can naturally find a match.”
Finally, Jang Min-cheol encouraged, “If you want to get married, apply to ‘Match to Marry.’”
The “Match to Marry” team is currently preparing Season 2 and recruiting participants.
