Netflix series “Boyfriend on Demand” landed at No. 4 on the Global Top 10 (Non-English TV) in its premiere week.

According to Netflix Tudum’s Top 10 site on the 11th, “Boyfriend on Demand” hit No. 4 in the Non-English TV category just three days after release. It logged 2,600,000 views (views are total hours watched divided by runtime) and 25,600,000 hours viewed ― No. 1 by viewing hours. The series also entered the Top 10 lists in 34 countries, including No. 1 in Korea, plus Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico, Indonesia, Brazil, and Chile.

Buzz at home is strong, too. In Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex for Week 1 of March, the show ranked No. 1 in the combined TV-OTT drama buzz chart. In the cast buzz chart, JISOO took No. 1, with Seo In-guk at No. 3.

“Boyfriend on Demand” is a romantic comedy about Seo Mi-rae (played by JISOO), a webtoon PD burned out by real life, who “subscribes” to dating through a virtual romance simulation. “Boyfriend on Demand” is the name of the in-show subscription service. Exhausted by a war-like daily grind, Mi-rae dives into a virtual world to live out dream romances, while in real life she gets entangled with her coworker PD, Gyeong-nam (Seo In-guk).

After the drop, JISOO’s performance as leading lady Seo Mi-rae sparked mixed reactions. Still, the series proved its heat by breaking into the global charts in its first week, signaling major interest from viewers worldwide.

On the 11th, Netflix unveiled behind-the-scenes stills, offering a peek at the cheerful, close-knit set.

As Mi-rae, who dreams of a second chance at love in a virtual world, JISOO takes on a range of concepts ― from doctor and freshman to webtoon heroine and flight attendant. Teaming up with Seo In-guk, plus special guests like Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Ong Seong-wu, Kim Young-dae, Moo Jin-sung, and Jay Park, she delivers a spectrum of looks and vibes that kept global viewers hooked.

Seo In-guk shows dual charms as webtoon PD “Gyeong-nam” and the virtual service’s hidden card “Gu Young-il.” From cool-but-caring Gyeong-nam to rough-yet-delicate Gu Young-il, he flexes multiple sides in one project. His romance synergy with JISOO especially dialed up viewers’ flutter meter ― you can feel the chemistry in the newly released photos, too.

Scene-stealing special appearances by Seo Kang-jun, Lee Soo-hyuk, Kim Sung-cheol, Ong Seong-wu, Lee Jae-wook, Modern tarzan, Lee Hyun-wook, Kim Young-dae, Moo Jin-sung, Jay Park, and Lee Sang-yi added punch. Their performances brought realism and fun to the virtual dates and grounded the real-life romance storyline. On top of that, Kim Ah-young and Go Kyu-pil’s quick back-and-forth across each virtual theme delivered plenty of laughs.

Meanwhile, all 10 episodes of “Boyfriend on Demand” dropped on Netflix on the 6th.
