Actor Kim Nam-gil makes a special appearance in tvN’s “Mad Concrete Dreams,” showing love for Ha Jung-woo.
Premiering on the 14th, tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Mad Concrete Dreams” is a suspense story about a debt-ridden, small-time landlord who joins a fake kidnapping scheme to protect what matters most―his family and his building. The series is drawing buzz with a star-studded cast including Ha Jung-woo, Im Soo-jung, Kim Jun-han, Jung Soo-jung, and Shim Eun-kyung.
The cameos for the premiere are stacked, and Kim Nam-gil’s was locked in thanks to his friendship with Ha Jung-woo. Kim plays a key role in the opening incident that kicks off the plot, lending support to his “bestie” Ha Jung-woo as he returns to TV dramas for the first time in 19 years.
In the series, Kim Nam-gil takes on the role of Kim Gyun, the younger brother of Kim Seon (played by Im Soo-jung) and brother-in-law to Gi Su-jong (played by Ha Jung-woo). Gyun is a dependable younger brother to Seon and is close with Su-jong like real siblings. As a violent-crimes detective, Gyun steps in when Su-jong faces losing his building at auction, digging into the forces behind it and playing a decisive part.
New stills tease tight-knit family chemistry between Ha Jung-woo and Kim Nam-gil. In the scene, Gi Su-jong opens up to his brother-in-law Kim Gyun about his troubles. The two lock in perfect synergy―no words needed―for that best-brothers-in-law vibe. In the next still, Kim Nam-gil’s sharp gaze kicks in as his detective instincts flare, raising questions about what he’s uncovered in his investigation.
The production team shared, “Kim Nam-gil will make a special appearance from the very first episode as a character who drives a crucial part of the story, delivering a powerful presence,” adding, “We’re grateful for his performance that goes beyond a typical cameo.”
“Mad Concrete Dreams” premieres on the 14th at 9:10 p.m.
