Chinese-born rapper D.Ark (21) has sparked controversy after alleging his label hurled verbal abuse at him while offering no support for album production.
On his social media, D.Ark claimed that since moving to his current label, he received no support beyond his first release under them―the album “Re:new,” which dropped on November 29, 2024. He wrote, “Company, at least put out my album. Why insult me while I’m doing everything DIY? If you’re just going to lock me in the studio and yell at me, I’m not doing this.”
D.Ark previously signed with a newly launched label founded by CEO Park Jin-seok, whom he met during his time at P NATION, and has released music under that contract. When reports surfaced last October that D.Ark was under police investigation for suspected marijuana use, the label issued statements clarifying the facts from his perspective.
In January, D.Ark shared a handwritten letter stating that while he did undergo a police drug investigation over marijuana allegations, his test results came back negative, and he has been focusing on making music. He added, “Since I was 15, I’ve dealt with a lot of malicious reporting, so I’m used to the misinformation that follows. I believe it’s largely my fault that I ended up being investigated, misinformation spread, and I faced criticism, and I’m reflecting on it.”
After vowing to pour himself into music, D.Ark has now, two months later, publicly revealed conflict with his label―raising questions about what led to this sudden turn.
D.Ark first gained attention at age 15 through back-to-back appearances on Mnet’s "Show Me The Money 777" and "High School Rapper." He later became embroiled in controversy following an ex-girlfriend’s expose about his private life.
