Ryoo Seung-wan’s new film "HUMINT" hits theaters nationwide today (the 11th), and all eyes are on whether it will debut at No. 1 at the box office.

According to the Korean Film Council’s advance sales tally on the 11th, "HUMINT" leads with a 38.4% reservation share and 180,000 tickets pre-sold, ranking No. 1 in both categories. Its competitor "The King's Warden", which opened a week earlier, surpassed 1 million admissions in just five days and currently holds the box office top spot.

"HUMINT" is coming in hot. It’s the latest from action mastermind Ryoo Seung-wan, carries a hefty 23.5 billion won production budget, and stars Zo In-sung, Park Jung-min, Shin Sae-kyoung, and Park Hae-joon―checking all the boxes for a must-watch release.

After a prolonged slump for Korean cinema, this year is off to a healthier start. If We Ever has crossed 2 million admissions, and "The King's Warden" quickly cleared 1 million. Now, Humint’s scorching pre-sales are boosting optimism for a strong run.

"HUMINT" is targeting the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. In its opening week―especially across the four-day break―it’s eyeing the 2 million admissions mark. At this pace, it’s a strong contender to win the holiday box office, with the possibility of a two-way boom alongside word-of-mouth hit "The King's Warden". With two buzzworthy Korean films in play, theaters are buzzing again.

"HUMINT" follows a clash of people with different agendas in Vladivostok, where secrets and truth sink into the icy sea. It opens nationwide today.
