The film "HUMINT" has surged past a 40% advance ticketing share, signaling a fierce entrance that’s set to shake up the competition.

According to the Korean Film Council’s advance sales tally on the 9th, "HUMINT" leads with a 41.4% reservation rate and 150,000 tickets booked, ranking No. 1 in both categories. It has overtaken "The King's Warden", the current box-office leader that surpassed 1 million admissions in five days.

Set in Vladivostok, where secrets and truths sink into an icy sea, "HUMINT" follows a clash between people with very different motives. The film stars Zo In-sung, Park Jung-min, Shin Sae-kyoung, and Park Hae-joon, and is directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, known for Berlin and the Veteran series.

Over the weekend, "HUMINT" held paid preview screenings in Daegu and Busan that included stage greetings, with all seats sold out.

Opening a week earlier, "The King's Warden" topped the box office in its first weekend, while "HUMINT" launches on the 11th. With both titles targeting the Lunar New Year holiday, all eyes are on their first-week showdown.
