Lee Gwan-hee, the Seoul Samsung Thunders guard and "Single's Inferno 3" alum, is under fire after taking aim at host Hong Jin-kyung in a recent YouTube video, telling her she’s “giving dating advice when she doesn’t even seem to know dating.”
In a Jan. 28 video on his channel, Lee watched and reviewed episodes of Netflix’s "Single's Inferno 5." When Hong weighed in on a cast member’s dating style ― saying that “seeing someone seven days a week is a bit much” ― Lee shot back, “You could see someone seven times,” before adding that it annoyed him to see Hong “coaching dating” from the studio.
A male guest tried to diffuse the moment by noting Hong’s life experience ― “She’s married and has a child, right?” ― but Lee doubled down: “So being married makes you better than me? I’m going to get married too.”
Lee went on to say he respected the other panelists ― Hanhae, DEX, and Lee Da-hee ― but not Hong. “I just don’t get her,” he said, later criticizing her hosting with, “Please do better. It’s not fun.”
Viewers quickly called the comments out of line. Hong, who finalized the end of a 22-year marriage, is a single mom raising a 16-year-old daughter. Beyond her longtime career as a model and TV personality, she’s also a successful entrepreneur known for her love of books and deep commitment to her faith.
The backlash online ranged from eye rolls to outright frustration, with reactions like: “You don’t need a certification to host a dating show,” and “By life experience alone ― and humility ― Hong’s probably at least better at relationships than Lee.”
