On the Jan. 6 broadcast of SBS’ Mumu X Chacha The Ballad of Us Radio, the show patched in celebrity callers to cheer on the Top 12 contestants.
One standout moment came from a phone call with SEVENTEEN’s SEUNGKWAN, which immediately drew attention.
Rooting for Lee Ye-ji, who is also from Jeju Island, SEUNGKWAN said, “It’s not easy to come up from Jeju and pursue music. It reminded me of my early days, and even though I haven’t done anything for her, I just felt so proud.”
He then delivered a personal message of support. Lee Ye-ji blushed bright red and could hardly contain her shyness.
Watching the exchange, Cha Tae-hyun quipped, “SEUNGKWAN is a main vocalist and Ye-ji’s a top contender―maybe Jeju just breeds great singers.”
SEUNGKWAN went on to sing Byun Jin-sub’s classic “Back to You Again,” the song Lee Ye-ji performed in competition, proving he’s a genuine fan.
The DJs wished for a future duet between the two. SEUNGKWAN teased, “I have a ballad duet with DK coming in January. It’d be great if Ye-ji could jump on the challenge,” referring to a social media challenge. Lee Ye-ji didn’t hesitate, promising she’d do it, capping the moment on a warm note.
