Broadcast live from 8:50 p.m. at SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, the 2025 SBS Drama Awards honored Lee Hae-young and Han Dong-hee with Supporting trophies in the Miniseries Genre/Action category.
Lee, who delivered a standout turn as Heo Il-do in Buried hearts, admitted he hadn’t prepared a speech. “A castmate from Buried hearts called me last night and asked if I’d written anything. I didn’t want to count my chickens, so I said I’d just wing it―and I really regret that now. I honestly didn’t expect this,” he said with a laugh.
“This is my first time in a setting like this, so I was shocked―and thrilled,” he continued. “When Hwa-yeon teared up during her Rookie Award speech earlier, I got choked up, too. Nights like this do that to you.”
He also shouted out the crew: “Every project is hard, but this one especially―our staff went above and beyond.”
“And most of all,” he added, “I want to thank Park Hyung-sik, who had to put up with a lousy dad, get shot, plunge into the ocean, and cheat death more than once―on screen, of course. I’ll work hard to be the kind of actor who lives up to this honor.”
Han Dong-hee, recognized for her work in Mantis, first thanked director Byun Young-joo for steering the series. “Our drama is eight episodes, and at our final shoot I joked I wanted to keep going for 32. The looks I got were… icy,” she said, laughing. “That’s how happy I was to be with the Mantis team.”
She closed with a nod to family: “To my true investors―Mom and Dad―thank you and I love you.” Han added, “I still have a long way to go, but I’ll keep working to bring you better stories as an actor.”
