Her agency EDAM Entertainment said on the 31st that the star made the year-end contribution in the name of “IUaena (IU + UAENA).” The funds will support a wide range of vulnerable groups, including single mothers, young adults aging out of care, people with disabilities, and seniors in need.
The donation was split evenly―50 million won each―among the Korean Unwed Mothers Families Association (KUMFA), the National Center for the Rights of the Child (NCRC), Snail of Love, and the Wooyang Foundation. The money will go toward programs such as assistance for single mothers facing financial and social hardships, startup costs for young people transitioning to independent living after leaving care, cochlear implant surgeries and hearing aids for the hearing-impaired, and food support for seniors at risk of going without meals during the winter.
IU has made a habit of giving on meaningful dates like her debut anniversary, birthday, and the holidays―often in the name of IUaena―building a steady track record of philanthropy. In March, she donated 200 million won to aid recovery from large-scale wildfires in the Gyeongsang region and to improve firefighter welfare. She also gave 150 million won for Children’s Day initiatives supporting kids and teens, and another 200 million won each on her birthday and debut anniversary to help marginalized communities.
Meanwhile, IU is currently filming the upcoming MBC drama "Perfect Crown," slated to air next year.
