The "Running Man" staple became the night’s special honoree thanks to an unmatched streak: since the show’s July 11, 2010 premiere, he hasn’t missed a single episode―making him the only cast member with perfect attendance across 15 years.
Through rain or shine, HAHA stayed put in his Sunday slot, building a career, a family, and, now in his forties, a legacy right alongside Running Man. In recognition, SBS saluted the “special person” who has filled viewers’ Sundays with laughs for a decade and a half.
Accepting the trophy and a custom-framed keepsake, HAHA said, “I honestly had no idea this was coming. Thank you so much.”
“I’ve been with SBS since 'X-Man'―over 20 years now,” he continued. “I’m not the flashiest guy, but I’ve kept showing up. I think this award is about that consistency.”
He added, “That consistency―being the only member with perfect attendance―is really thanks to my wife. Byul has been the one holding it all together,” he said, shouting out his singer spouse.
A father of three, HAHA also shared a sweet family moment: “Our son Dream was upset I didn’t win yesterday, but tonight I finally get to bring a trophy home.”
He closed by thanking his castmates and offering an on-air apology: “Yea-eun was sick this year, and I teased her without knowing. I’m truly sorry,” he said to the youngest member, Ji Ye-eun, drawing attention from the audience.
