On the Dec. 22 episode of SBS’s "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny", the powerhouse vocalist appeared as a guest MC.
Ailee shared that fellow singer Shinji has been “like a mom” to her in the industry. “She’s always taken care of me like a little sister―or even a daughter,” Ailee said.
She recalled hosting a small get-together to introduce her then-fiance to friends ahead of the wedding. “He’s an off-the-charts introvert,” she laughed. “At his first meeting with Shinji, he couldn’t get a single word out.”
“After we’d been chatting for a while, she looked at me and said, ‘Does your future husband even know how to talk?’ because he was so quiet,” Ailee added, cracking up at the memory.
“Ever since, he jokes that if he doesn’t treat me right, he’s afraid Shinji will come for him,” she said, drawing laughs in the studio.
Ailee also addressed misconceptions about her husband. “He’s an influencer and runs a company that manages influencers, but some people assumed he was jobless,” she revealed. “It really hurt at the time, but now I’m fine―believe what you want. It’s not true.”
As for wedding dreams, Ailee admitted she didn’t think she had many―until the dress fittings. “I realized I wasn’t as sentimental as I thought, but everyone kept encouraging me. In the end, I wore 10 looks for the photos and three different gowns at the ceremony,” she said.
The panel couldn’t resist a playful jab: “For someone with no wedding fantasies, that sounds like the most romantic setup we’ve heard. Three gowns at the ceremony? That’s a first!”
