Singer Kim Jang-hoon has issued a public apology after posting video from former MBLAQ member Mir’s private wedding that revealed the bride’s face, saying he “deserves the criticism.” Mir is also the younger brother of actress Go Eun-ah.
In a lengthy note shared to his social media on the 22nd, Kim said he uploaded footage of the couple’s exit without realizing the ceremony was private. “After my manager explained the situation, I deleted it immediately, but the clip had already spread,” he wrote.
Kim attended Mir’s wedding on the 21st, performed a congratulatory song during the reception, and later uploaded video of his stage along with the couple’s entrance.
The backlash centered on the fact that Mir’s wife is a non-celebrity and her face had not been shown publicly, while the event itself was intended to be private. Many criticized Kim for failing to respect the couple’s privacy.
Addressing the controversy, Kim said he has tried to avoid making waves since returning to the spotlight but called his actions “thoughtless” and “worthy of criticism.” He added that he will be “meticulously, almost obsessively careful” going forward. “I’m especially sorry to Mir―who is like family to me―and to his loved ones,” he wrote.
Mir married his non-celebrity girlfriend, who is one year his senior, at a wedding hall in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on the 21st. The couple tied the knot after a long relationship, making Mir the third member of MBLAQ to get married.
