Stories of quiet generosity continue to emerge about Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who died suddenly in February.

A Singapore outlet reported that several single mothers whom Hsu quietly helped―without publicity―have come forward to share their stories in the wake of her passing.

One mom, raising her 7-year-old son alone while paying for his seizure treatments, said, "My child needed therapy costing 2,000 yuan every month, and I was at my limit." She reached out to a number of celebrities for help. "Out of everyone, the only person who replied was Barbie Hsu," she recalled.

Another single mother, whose daughter was battling leukemia, said Hsu transferred 300,000 yuan with a simple message: "If it's not enough, tell me." "Thanks to her, my child got a second chance at life. I couldn't believe a star like that existed," she added.

The testimonials went viral online. Known for her warm, sunny persona, Hsu was widely beloved and often led by example with quiet philanthropy. Taiwanese netizens mourned, writing, "The warmest soul left too soon," and, "She was an angel without wings."

Hsu and DJ Koo made global headlines in March 2022 when they married after reconnecting as first love more than two decades later. Their long-awaited union was tragically short-lived: while traveling in Japan with Koo and family, Hsu died on Feb. 2 at 48 following acute pneumonia symptoms.

Since her passing, DJ Koo has reportedly visited her gravesite every day―rain or shine―to pay his respects.
