SBS’s Wednesday-Thursday drama "Dynamic Kiss" (written by Ha Yoon-a, Tae Kyung-min; directed by Kim Jae-hyun, Kim Hyun-woo) is drawing buzzy reactions at home and abroad with a crackling love square. The show balances swoony and funny, while the four leads’ tangled emotions keep the tension high ― led by Jang’s pitch-perfect take on rom-com hero Gong Ji-hyeok.
Ji-hyeok falls hard for Go Da-rim (Ahn Eun-jin) after a force-of-nature kiss. When Da-rim ― who’d vanished without a trace ― reappears as a teammate and apparent young mom, he’s thrown. The truth? She’s single and working under a false identity to make ends meet. Unaware of that, Ji-hyeok can’t shake his pull toward her ― and tries, unsuccessfully, to tamp it down.
Then Ji-hyeok spots a kiss between Kim Sun-woo (Kim Moo-jun) and Yoo Ha-young (Woo Da-bi). Believing Sun-woo is Da-rim’s husband, he suspects an affair. Moments later, Da-rim collapses in front of him. He rushes her to the ER ― literally carrying her on his back ― and realizes he wants to be the one to protect her. The episode 6 ending, with Ji-hyeok finally owning his feelings, sent viewers’ dopamine spiking.
According to the production team, episodes 7 and 8 this week see Ji-hyeok “laid low by an uncontrollable, feverish love,” teasing an even deeper spiral for the character and stoking fan anticipation.
In newly released stills, Ji-hyeok visits the “grandfather tree” Da-rim once reminisced about, late at night. Staring up at the tree, he suddenly ducks behind it as if he’s spotted something. The usually buttoned-up Ji-hyeok even has his tie loosened ― and his eyes brim with ache and longing, enough to make your own chest tighten.
“We put Ji-hyeok through an intense emotional storm as he comes to terms with his love for Da-rim,” the producers said. “Jang Ki-yong delivers those swings with striking range. As he burns through this love fever, watch what choice he makes ― and how it reshapes his aching, slow-burn romance with Da-rim.”
Jang Ki-yong’s heart-twisting lovesick turn continues in episode 7 of "Dynamic Kiss", airing Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 9 p.m. KST on SBS.
