SEVENTEEN’s JUN has been tapped as the new face of the Hainan Island International Film Festival, serving as its Youth Ambassador.
Pledis Entertainment, a HYBE label, announced Tuesday that JUN will represent the festival’s seventh edition, helping connect young audiences with cinema as one of China’s rising screen talents.
The Hainan Island International Film Festival runs Dec. 3-9 in Sanya, Hainan, China, drawing filmmakers from around the globe. This year’s edition attracted more than 4,600 submissions from 119 countries and regions.
JUN recently made waves on the big screen, sharing the spotlight with Jackie Chan and Tony Leung Ka-fai in a Chinese action feature that opened in August in China before rolling out to major cities worldwide. The project earned invitations to the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival and the 30th Busan International Film Festival, underscoring his momentum as an actor.
His period drama "Yun Gui Xishi" is also slated to premiere on iQIYI.
A former child actor, JUN appeared in the 2006 film "The Pye-Dog," winning Best New Performer from the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild the following year and becoming the first Chinese child actor nominated for Best New Performer at the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards. In 2023, his teen romance "Exclusive Fairytale" picked up a Popularity Award at Busan’s Asia Content Awards & Global OTT Awards.
