Hyun Bin is set to reinvent himself yet again with the new series "Made in Korea".
Set in 1970s South Korea―a volatile era of upheaval and rapid ascent―the drama follows Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin), a KCIA section chief who treats the nation like a business model as he claws his way to the pinnacle of wealth and power. On his trail is prosecutor Jang Geon-young (Jung Woo-sung), whose unflinching obsession drives a high-stakes collision with era-defining consequences.
After showcasing range across "Harbin", "The Point Men", the "Confidential Assignment" franchise, and the global hit "Crash Landing on You", Hyun Bin makes his streaming-series debut with Disney+’s original "Made in Korea".
As Baek Ki-tae, Hyun Bin plays a power broker intent on turning the state into his enterprise―his most overtly ambitious, rawly driven character to date―promising a side of the star we haven’t seen before.
With characters whose agendas force uneasy alliances and explosive clashes, expect a taut psychological chess match―and deeper, more layered work from Hyun Bin.
Character stills released on the 24th show Hyun Bin fully inhabiting the KCIA’s inner sanctum. He lounges with a calm confidence, but his eyes cut sharp―telegraphing a man aiming squarely at the summit of state power. Standing rigid in the agency’s cold gray offices, he radiates disciplined intimidation, the controlled presence of someone waiting for the perfect moment to seize more.
"Made in Korea" premieres on Disney+, rolling out two episodes Dec. 24, two on Dec. 31, one on Jan. 7, and one on Jan. 14, for a six-episode season.
