Actress Koo Hye-sun, 40, is stepping beyond the screen and into the boardroom, opening a new chapter as a bona fide artist-entrepreneur.

On Nov. 20, Koo officially rolled out "Koo Roll," a patented, foldable hair roller developed with a high-performance hair-care brand. Built to fix the portability woes of traditional rollers, the device folds flat, pops open in seconds, and is light enough to toss in any bag.

This wasn't a standard endorsement. Koo led the charge across product planning, design, naming, branding, and the patent process―essentially serving as project lead. As product designer, creative director, and CEO, she's shaping a design-first K-beauty venture grounded in her own aesthetic sensibility.

A true multi-hyphenate―actor, filmmaker, painter, and author―Koo has long carved out her own creative lane. The launch blends her artistry with practical innovation and signals the growth potential of artist-led K-beauty brands.

KHS Agency, which recently signed her, said in a statement that it plans to build "a brand that fuses Koo’s artistry with real-world utility," asking fans to cheer on her next chapter.

Koo is also steady with her studies. After graduating from Sungkyunkwan University’s Department of Film last year, she is now pursuing a master’s degree in Science Journalism at KAIST.
