Speaking at an SBS press conference in Seoul on Nov. 18 for the network’s new Friday-Saturday drama, the star admitted, "The past seasons were so strong that I’m honestly pretty nervous. Can we top those episodes? It’s hard to say."
Still, he’s bullish on what they’ve shot so far. "When I think about the episodes we’ve filmed and the work everyone’s put in day by day, I believe viewers will feel that Season 3 goes deeper ― and still delivers that crisp, cathartic punch," he said.
Based on the popular webtoon, "Taxi Driver" follows a secretive taxi company and driver Kim Do-gi as they deliver vigilante justice on behalf of victims failed by the system. The first season launched in 2021; Season 2 arrived in 2023 and soared to a peak 21% nationwide rating, setting the stage for a highly anticipated third chapter two years later.
"I never imagined we’d make it this far when we started 'Taxi Driver,'" Lee added. "We were able to come back for Season 3 because of the love and support from viewers. I’m counting on that support again ― and I promise to pay it back with big, crowd-pleasing fun."
He continued, "By the time Season 3 wraps, I’m curious whether viewers will be eager for the next story. I hope that becomes a reality."
The core Rainbow crew returns intact for the new season: Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram are back in action, tighter than ever after five years of working together to comfort victims and take down villains with satisfying flair.
"Taxi Driver 3" premieres Friday, Nov. 21 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS.
