Sung Si-kyung is heading back to the mic with a new TV drama soundtrack after recently revealing he suffered financial losses due to a manager.

The veteran balladeer contributes “What Day, What Heart” (literal title) to JTBC’s new weekend series “Surely Tomorrow”; written by Yoo Young-ah, directed by Lim Hyun-wook; produced by SLL, IN, Geulmoe). The track is set for an early digital release on December 4.

Sung not only lends his vocals but also takes part in composing, carefully shaping the song’s emotional arc. Lyricist Shim Hyun-bo penned the words after reading the script, crafting lyrics around the inner journey of Kyung-do, portrayed by Park Seo-joon.

Long hailed as one of Korea’s premier ballad voices―especially synonymous with wintry, soul-soothing hits―Sung’s return to soundtrack work is already fueling anticipation. “What Day, What Heart,” anchored by his warm tone and understated power, aims to deepen the drama’s mood while staking a claim as a defining soundtrack of the season.

“Surely Tomorrow” follows exes Lee Kyung-do (Park Seo-joon) and Seo Ji-woo (Won Ji-an), who reunite in unexpected roles: he’s the subject of an affair scandal, and she’s the reporter who broke the story―now the scandal lead’s wife. Their complicated, heartfelt reunion unfolds into a bittersweet romance. The series premieres December 6 and airs Saturdays at 10:40 p.m. and Sundays at 10:30 p.m. on JTBC.

Sung Si-kyung’s “What Day, What Heart” will be pre-released on December 4 at 6 p.m. across major digital music platforms, ahead of the show’s premiere.
