MC Mong Faces Backlash Over Hitler Portrait in Home Decor: "Historically Tone-Deaf"

Rapper MC Mong is facing fresh backlash after an Instagram Story from inside his home appeared to show a pop-art portrait of Adolf Hitler hanging along his staircase wall.

The short clip, set to Car, the garden’s “Home Sweet Home,” spotlights a sleek, upscale interior ― but the framed Hitler image caught viewers’ eyes and quickly ignited criticism online.

Across the West, using Hitler’s likeness or Nazi symbols for decorative or commercial purposes is widely condemned as glorifying or trivializing Nazism and the genocide of more than six million Jews. The piece in question resembles a pop-art illustration ― a black-and-white face punched up with red accents ― similar to prints sold on overseas sites.

While pop art has historically deployed famous or controversial figures as targets of satire and critique, many argued that displaying a Hitler portrait as home decor is “historically tone-deaf” and reflects a lack of awareness.

MC Mong had been serving as an executive producer at the ONE HUNDRED label before being sidelined in June. In July, he said he planned to study abroad, citing deteriorating health and depression. He later drew controversy after a social-media spat with actor Lee Seung-gi and actress Lee Da-in: he posted an old group photo without their consent, and when Lee voiced discomfort, he shot back with a quip akin to “stay in your lane,” further fueling the fallout.
