At a press conference on Nov. 5 at SBS headquarters in Seoul for the new Wednesday-Thursday series "Dynamic Kiss" (written by Ha Yoon-ah and Tae Kyung-min; directed by Kim Jae-hyun and Kim Hyun-woo), Ahn said, “As I started this rom-com, I kept thinking, ‘I hope I look pretty on camera.’”
"Dynamic Kiss" follows a single woman who pretends to be a married mom to land a job at a baby-products company―then unexpectedly reunites with the man she once shared a kiss with that felt like a natural disaster. Ahn plays Go Da-rim, who goes undercover as a married mother to make ends meet, and finds herself working under team leader Gong Ji-hyeok (played by Jang Ki-yong). Reuniting as boss and employee, the two face a mutual slow-burn romance where neither love nor work comes easy.
“Watching Da-rim and Team Leader Gong together, I wanted viewers to think, ‘I want to date like that’ or ‘I want to fall in love like that,’” Ahn shared. “So I really thought about how to look a little prettier on screen, and I kept my guard up until the very end so we’d blend beautifully as a couple.”
This project marks Ahn’s first turn as a rom-com leading lady. Host Park Kyung-lim, who emceed the event, chimed in with a smile: “We go to the same yoga studio, and our instructor keeps praising how hard she trains.”
Director Kim Jae-hyun said he first took notice of Ahn through her turn as Chu Min-ha in "Hospital Playlist." “I’d wanted to work with her for a while,” he said. “She captures truth in every moment. When performances get overly calculated, the emotion can fade―but with Eun-jin, she stays locked into the feeling and situation, and expresses it as she genuinely experiences it. Because Da-rim is a character who lives honestly from moment to moment, I felt Ahn Eun-jin was the right actor to bring her to life.”
Ahn’s love for the genre sealed the deal. “When I read 'Dynamic Kiss', I got a dopamine hit every episode,” she said. “I thought, ‘This is exactly the kind of show we need―how can we make it as fun as possible?’ I really wanted to do a rom-com, and meeting this project at the perfect time made me so happy.”
"Dynamic Kiss" premieres Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 9 p.m. KST on SBS.
