Kang Ye-won has been tapped to lead the film "Get Off My Island!" (literal translation), directed by Lee Yong-seok.
The island-set action comedy follows a protagonist who travels to a mysterious inheritance―Yeongguido, a remote isle passed down from a grandfather―and gets swept into a string of murders while plotting an escape from the ruthless killers who rule the island.
Kang plays Han Ae-ri, an insurance-collecting hitwoman who deliberately targets real estate mogul Chairman Oh, marries him, then heads to Yeongguido to stage his “accidental” death for the fortune. She’s icy and money-obsessed yet unpredictably funny―part cold-blooded killer, part chaos agent―promising plenty of dark laughs and tension.
Kang Ye-won’s screen credits span films "Tidal Wave," "Hello Ghost," and "Watching," as well as dramas "Bad Guys," "Becky's Back," and "The One and Only." She’s also showcased her candid, playful side on variety hits like "Sister’s Slam Dunk 2" and "Never Late for Love" This marks her first big-screen role in about six years.
"Get Off My Island!" began filming in October and is slated for release next year.
