Actor Kim Hieora is returning to theaters with the mystery occult film “Savior” after stepping away from the spotlight amid school bullying allegations.

At a press preview and Q&A held Tuesday at CGV Yongsan in Seoul, Kim said, “I know I caused concern. I met directly with the people involved and had long, honest conversations. We cleared up misunderstandings and are now rooting for each other’s lives.”

She continued, “I never tried to run from my hiatus or felt victimized. I was reflecting deeply as an actor when this project came to me like a miracle. Playing Chun-seo made me realize the ordinary can be miraculous. I approached every moment with gratitude and humility, and I’ll keep moving forward that way.”

In “Savior,” Kim portrays Chun-seo, a single mother raising her son who becomes entangled with Sun-hee (played by Song Ji-hyo) after the latter moves into the neighborhood―setting off a chain of events that puts them at the center of a major incident.

Kim broke out in 2022 with Netflix’s "The Glory," but paused activities in September 2023 after allegations surfaced about her behavior in high school.

In April 2024, she shared that she had met with the parties who raised the allegations and that they agreed to support one another moving forward. Kim returned to the stage with the musical "Frida" earlier this year and now meets audiences on the big screen with “Savior.”

“Savior” follows Young-beom (Kim Byung-chul) and Sun-hee (Song Ji-hyo) after they move to the supposedly blessed village of Obok-ri and witness a series of miracles―only to learn the phenomenon may be the cost of someone else’s misfortune. The occult mystery is directed by Shin Jun, known for Yongsoon, and stars Song Ji-hyo, Kim Byung-chul, and Kim Hieora.

The film opens in theaters on November 5.
