Premiering Nov. 21, the new Friday-Saturday installment of "Taxi Driver" ― adapted from the original webtoon ― follows undercover cabbie Kim Do-gi and the secretive Rainbow Taxi team as they deliver cathartic, vigilante justice for those failed by the system. Since 2023, the franchise has ranked among the top five most-watched Korean dramas across broadcast and cable, peaking at 21% nationwide, and last year it took home Best Drama Series at the 28th Asian Television Awards ― cementing its status as a mega-hit franchise and a model for season-based K-dramas.
At the read-through were writer Oh Sang-ho, who has helped build Taxi Driver’s tight-knit universe, and director Kang Bo-seung ― Season 1’s first assistant director and co-helmer of "Dr. Romantic 3" ― along with the full Rainbow Five. The gathering marked the official green light for Season 3.
Two years since their last table read, the room buzzed. Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin and Bae Yoo-ram slipped back into rapid-fire banter and eye-contact chemistry, reminding fans why the Rainbow Five are such a beloved unit. Their seasoned teamwork dialed up the fun, and their upgraded undercover personas hinted at fresh twists to come.
Adding a cinematic flair, director Kang projected his own storyboards while the actors layered in dialogue ― a format that amped up immersion. The franchise’s trademark righteous payback and fist-pumping catharsis were on full display, alongside explosive action beats that tease a bigger, bolder scale. With formidable new villains stepping into the crosshairs, this year-end return promises an adrenaline spike for viewers.
“We’re so grateful to be back for Season 3 ― our team feels like family,” Lee Je-hoon said. “This season is more intense than before, and I’ve been prepping an even wider range of undercover personas. I can’t wait for everyone to see what Kim Do-gi and the Rainbow Taxi team pull off.”
Selected for production support by South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Agency (KCA), "Taxi Driver 3" premieres Nov. 21 on SBS. The series will also be available on Viu across Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
